Home Front: Furnishings: The Great Outdoors

An 18th-century estate just outside Münster, Germany, is home to Michael Sieger and his eponymous design companies. Sieger converted the estate’s former stable and bakery (the L-shaped building in the center) into a family home. In the entry hall, views of Montana’s Whitefish Lake and Lion Mountain are the focus. The Lyptus-wood front doors were inspired by doors the owners saw while vacationing in Tuscany. The door knobs are made from real rocks and feature a bear motif. The 1,200-pound entry canopy comes from a single sheet of steel.
